Privacy Policy
We built BRIEFLINE to reduce noise, not to create new risks. This page explains what we access, what we don’t, and how we protect your data.
Last updated: November 28, 2025
Welcome to Briefline (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a clear understanding of how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to provide the Daily Briefing service:
- Account Information: Your name and email address for account creation and login.
- Calendar Data (Google): Event titles, times, and locations to generate your schedule summary.
- Task Data (Google Tasks & Notion): Task titles and due dates to list your priorities.
- Email Metadata (Gmail): Sender, subject line, and snippet (preview text) to identify actionable emails. We do not store the full body of your emails permanently.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively for the purpose of generating your personal daily briefing. Specifically:
- To synthesize your schedule and tasks into a readable summary.
- To detect critical action items (e.g., “Invoice Due”) from your inbox using AI processing.
- To send you the resulting briefing via email.
We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your data to third parties.
3. Google User Data Policy (Limited Use)
Briefline’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically regarding Gmail data:
- We only request read-only access to your Gmail metadata.
- We use automated processing (AI) to identify actionable tasks. No human reads your emails.
- Data is processed ephemerally. Once your briefing is generated, the raw email content is discarded from memory.
4. AI Processing
We use third-party AI providers (OpenAI) to summarize your data. Data sent to these providers is:
- Transmitted securely via TLS/SSL encryption.
- Not used to train their public models (we use zero-retention API policies where available).
- Used solely for the purpose of generating your briefing text.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your data.
- Retention: We store your authentication tokens (encrypted) to maintain the connection. We store the generated “Actions” (tasks) in our database so you can view them in your history.
- Deletion: You can delete your account at any time from the “Danger Zone” in your Settings dashboard. This action permanently wipes all your personal data, including access tokens and task history, from our servers immediately.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encryption at rest for sensitive tokens. We regularly review our code for vulnerabilities.
